TH17-phenotypes of juvenile idiopathic arthritis

چکیده
Introduction Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is a chronic disorder with unknown etiology and characterized by autoimmunity, infiltration of synovium by activated proinflammatory cells, synovial hyperplasia and progressive destruction of cartilage and bone. IL-17A is a proinflammatory cytokine that is expressed in the inflamed synovium. Th17 cells have been identified as main producers of this cytokine. IL-17A is a potent inducer of various cytokines and chemokines. In addition, this cytokine has been shown to have additive or even synergistic effects with TNFa and IL-1b on cytokine induction and tissue destruction.

متن کاملImbalance of Th17 and T-regulatory cells in peripheral blood and synovial fluid in treatment naïve children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis
OBJECTIVES The imbalance between Th17 and T regulatory cells (Tregs) may be a key event in development of autoimmunity. The problem is poorly explored in juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) so far. In this study, peripheral blood (PB) and synovial fluid (SF) Tregs and Th17 cells from were assessed in untreated JIA children. MATERIAL AND METHODS In 50 children with JIA the PB or SF percentages...
